Trendy Tips from Madrid's Fashion Week
After checking out show after show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid, here’s a list of fashionable tips and trends straight from the runway, for the upcoming Autumn/Winter 2017/18 season. Try a few or try them all, this is what you’ll be seeing next fall on the streets of Madrid.
Florals aren’t just for spring
Next autumn will be filled with flowers of all sorts, at least in fashion. Dresses, coats, shirts and even trousers will be covered with flower patterns. Mixing florals with other prints or fabrics like, silk, gauze and fur will also be right on trend.
Show some shoulder (even just one)
Off-the-shoulder shirts and dresses and one-shoulder looks are huge for fall. Despite the cold, shoulders will be out in full force, so make sure to prep by hitting the gym ahead of time to make sure your shoulders are svelte and sexy.
Capes
Capes and ponchos are all the rage for fall, so pick one up and layer it over all the other trends mentioned. All colors, shapes, patterns and fabrics are a go, but specifically, grey and yellow are key colors.
Add a belt
Belts are back, and the more obvious, the better, so add one to your outfit. In fact, many of the other trends you’ll see will also incorporate belts, so add it in to your daily style. Try belting different types of fabrics and garments like a robe, jumpsuit, knitwear or coat.
Menswear… but for women
Ladies, grab those suits or invest in a wide-leg pant or pinstripes. Anything your man would wear is now fair game for you too. Especially stylish are the extra-wide-leg trousers and menswear in bold colors. Combining a feminine garment with a staunch menswear look is also a fun way to combine the trend with that girlish coat or accessory you already own.
For the guys: belts and suits
Don’t worry guys, we haven’t forgotten you. Belts will also be big for gentlemen this season, and make sure to belt unusual items, like your suit or coat, not just those jeans you want to hold up. Suits and blazers never really go out of style, so it won’t hurt to invest in a solid suit for fall. You can go bold with a crazy color, like gold, or just stick with the classics which are always dapper.
